Teamwork in children
Childhood teamwork is a fascinating subject as it opens our eyes to how teamwork can develop with little to no intervention and how children can often come with ideas and thoughts that our strict thought processes have lost. Children's minds are so open to new ideas and thoughts that they may think or try something that we would never even attempt.
The start of teamwork in children usually comes from the idea of sharing, kids learn that through sharing they can gain access to new experiences though the payment of an old experience. This opens up a whole world to them of collaboration with their peers and is often the basis of early childhood friendships.
From sharing comes real teamwork when children realise they can pool their resources to gain access to experiences they did not otherwise have access too, this is a very natural progression and parents usually make no attempt to instil this idea in their children but it still comes about.
This foundation allows children to adapt and improve their teamwork and build friendships setting them up for the adult life ahead of them.
“Leadership is not a magnetic personality – that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not ‘making friends and influencing people’ – that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person’s vision to high sights, the raising of a person’s performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.”

Leadership Quotes
Teamwork and leadership in sport
Team work and leadership are vital in all group sports and it is often the team with the better teamwork that will win over the team with the best raw talent. Teamwork allows the whole team to perform at their best and acts as a force multiplier within the team. 2 individuals working together can achieve more than 2 individuals not working together, it is as simple as that. So any teams with huge big name talents that are not giving teamwork their full attention are not putting their talent to its full use and run the risk of losing to teams with less talent and more teamwork. leadership plays a vital role in this and a strong leader is needed in each team to keep them in-line and following the plan. The combination of both of these factors is what results in a very strong resilient unit and some of the best teams in history have followed this approach and succeeded without necessarily the best team of the time.
